HOMEMADE BUBBLES: images (2)

1 gallon water
2/3 cup liquid dish soap
2 to 3 tablespoons glycerin or corn syrup

Stir together. Test and adjust ingredients until desired results are reached.

WINDOW PAINT:

Mix together equal parts dish washing liquid and washable liquid paint or powdered tempera. Mix until it’s a creamy consistency. Use paintbrushes. Easy to clean from windows with a moist paper towel, too.

TUB SOAP PAINT

1 cup of Ivory soap, grated
1/2 — 3/4 cup water
food coloring
frosting tips
plastic baggies

Put the soap shreds in a food processor. Gradually add water until it is a gooey, sticky consistency.
Put frosting tips on plastic bags. Scoop the mix into bags. Add the coloring to the bags and mix with your hands to distribute color.

Water Movement Experiment

This is a classic – but I’ve never seen it done with anything other than celery. I love this picture!

1) Take Celery or Napa Cabbage (largest you can find) and slice a stalk halfway up the middle.
2) Place two clear containers close together. Add a few drops of food coloring in two different colors to the jars.
3) Add water to the jars to fill to about 1.5 inches deep.
4) Wait about 8 hours and observe the difference!

Plants use little tubes to transport water from where they have it (the ground, usually) to where they need it (in their leaves, where it is “breathed out” through little pores called stomata.

Transluscent Egg Experiment

egg experiment 010

Instructions HERE Plan ahead this takes 48 hours!

Funny Story: A scout leader did this for her group at Girl Scout camp – and she had the boys unit come over to see all the projects they’d been working on… My son got to hold the egg… and gave it a little squeeze.. then gave it little more of a squeeze and the thing exploded in his hand. This might even be worth it to do just for the fun of squeezing the eggs!! lol
