Fix Broken Eye Shadow

Reblogged from petitelefant:

Do you ever break your eyeshadow?  Like, drop it on the ground and shatter it?  It’s heartbreaking, especially when you’ve forked over serious cash for the good stuff.  I’ve thrown away hundreds of dollars in makeup because I’ve shattered it doing heaven knows what.

I’m here to teach you how to repair it.

how to repair eyeshadow

Here’s what you need:

  • shattered eyeshadow
  • coin {I used an American quarter}
  • rubbing alcohol
  • tissue
  • butter knife
  • medicine squirter
  • {not pictured} plastic bag or plastic wrap

Step 1:

Place the shattered makeup carefully into the plastic bag holding the plastic carefully over the top.

Step 2:

Hold the plastic tightly across the top of the eyeshadow and with the back of the butter knife smash all the remaining bits of eyeshadow into a fine powder.

Step 3:

When the eyeshadow looks like this, you’re ready to go.  Pull the eyeshadow out of the plastic bag, we’re on to step 4!

rubbing alcohol

Step 4:

Using the medicine squirter put a couple squirts of rubbing alcohol into the broken eyeshadow.  Make sure the eyeshadow is completely saturated with the rubbing alcohol.

Step 5:

Now put the tissue on top of the eyeshadow and put the coin on top of that.  Press down with all the force in the world.  You’re re-compacting the eyeshadow, so don’t be shy.

Step 6:

Enjoy your new eyeshadow!

Isn’t that awesome?  I’ve already done this to three of my favorite shattered M.A.C. eyeshadow compacts.  I’m so happy I can’t even tell you.

Listen, don’t judge me.  It’s the small bits of happiness in life that make it worthwhile.

Lounge / Workout Shorts From a T-shirt

I’m using this blue shirt as lining for a white pair of pants I’m making.

Cut off the sleeves:

Cut off collar:

Now. Instead of cutting straight up the middle, cut up the SIDES.

(sorry for the bad picture)

Now you have the front and the back of the shirt seperate.
Take the front, fold in half WRONG sides OUT, and sew up the open side until you get to the sleeve, which will be your crotch.

That’s both my legs, one is inside out. The blue shirt is a little short, but that’s okay, I only needed it because I didn’t want people seeing my panties.

Pin up the crotch and sew:

Make a waist band and sew to pants:

I made my waist band twice as tall in the back than the front.

Now the image on your shirt isn’t cut in half, it wraps around your leg!

It says live united, my dad gave me a ton of shirts and a few pairs of pants that he didn’t want. I hope the pictures aren’t too big.
I hope you found this tutorial helpful! I’ve seen WAY too many people saying ‘Oh I made these awesome pants, but I miss that beautiful [tree, owl, cat, ect] that was on the shirt’

Jello Play Dough

This Jello playdough recipe is another great craft project from jelloplaydoughrecipes you can do with your kids to make a toy you can produce time and time again. Jello ads scent and color to your homemade playdough making it one of the most fun and interesting ways to make your own. It is fairly complicated to make compared to some other playdough recipesand it is definitely not for kids to be doing on their own as their is come careful cooking involved. Although this is not a recipe for kids to make you can quite easily make it with them as a craft or toy project. It makes a pretty nice playdough if you can get the cooking just right, with a really nice texture and shape.

  • warm water – 1 cup
  • Jello – 1 3oz pack

Directions:

  • Add all the ingredients together in a big mixing bowl
  • Mix all the ingredients together until consistent
  • Pour into a pan and stir continuously
  • Wait for it to thicken into a big ball and then place it on a piece of wax paper to cool
  • Kneed it for a few minutes once cooled with some flour
  • Add any food coloring or glitter to spice things up!
  • Start playing!

This is one of the most fun  you can make so make sure to give it a try once you’ve mastered some simpler recipes! Be careful because Jello Playdough burns easily, so make sure you cook it on low heat and keep stirring. If you store it in an air tight refrigerated container you can keep it for quite a few days.
