DIY Fabric Jelly Roll

You can buy a standard jelly roll that “consists of 40 strips of various “dark & light” prints cut along the width-of-fabric” or you can make your own jelly roll from various fabrics you have on hand that look good together. These would make a great gift for your favorite quilter – or a nice add on to a sewers basket for a silent auction!

Book Turned Handbag

Turn an old, unwanted book into a useful unique purse!

  • A hardcover book (preferably with a pretty cover). The one I used was this boring lavender color, so I went ahead and decoupaged it.
  • A piece of thick cardboard cut to fit the spine of the book.
  • Half a yard of fabric for lining.
  • Purse handles and some type of snap closure.
  • Scissors.
  • An X-ACTO knife.
  • Sewing pins.
  • Fabric pen/chalk/some other type of fabric-friendly marking utensil.
  • Extra-strength glue.
