Gooey Butter Bars

Gooey Butter Cake… ever heard of it? If you’re a St. Louisan (like me) you know it well. Try this recipe for gooey butter bars – you won’t be disappointed!


You’ll need:
1 box yellow cake mix

3 eggs, divided
1 stick of butter, either melted or at room temperature
1 8-oz package cream cheese, at room temperature
1 lb (or 4 cups) powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Wrap some wire onto a headband. Poke a hole in the end of plastic cups and insert them onto the wire (as in pic). Then form some aluminum foil, held with duct tape onto the wires. Wrap paper and secure around. Paint in a circular fashion with black and brown acrylic paints. Let dry.
