Candy turned cookie – these would be great for a cookie exchange party!

• 1/2 cup butter
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 egg white
• 1 1/2 cups flour
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 20 caramels, unwrapped
• 1 tbsp milk, (I used whole)
• 2 cups milk chocolate chips

• 280 g (2 cups) all-purpose flour 
• 130 g (1/2 cup and 1 tablespoon) unsalted butter, at room temperature, cut into cubes
• 105 g (1/2 cup) granulated sugar
• 30 g (2 tablespoons) lemon juice
• 12 g (2 tablespoons) lemon zest
• 1 large egg
